BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Federal authorities say they have arrested a man accused in the June murder of an Alabama woman. The U.S. Marshall’s Office tells that 31-year-old Antwaun “Bird” Rodgers has been charged with murder in the death of Tamika Washington. Rodgers was arrested Friday morning in west Birmingham.

EUFAULA, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say an alligator pulled from a lake in southeast Alabama weighs an estimated 920 pounds. reports that the 13-foot, 6-inch gator was captured in Lake Eufaula on Aug. 14. Authorities say the alligator was caught by Scott Evans of Center Point.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Red Eagle Work Center. The Alabama Department of Corrections said in a news release that 50-year-old Samuel Garrett walked away from his assigned job location Friday afternoon while wearing prison-issued white clothing.
