Hundreds of meals will be prepared for the underprivileged and homeless families in the Pine Belt area for the Christian Services Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner.
“Turkeys, green beans, rolls, desserts and volunteers are all needed to make this day a success! We cannot serve the nearly 2,000 individuals that will be fed on this day by ourselves. We need you!” said Jim Prout, Executive Director of Christian Services, Inc.
Those in attendance often walk, ride with a neighbor, or catch the city bus to downtown Hattiesburg where a line can be seen forming around the building in anticipation of the festivities of that day.
The Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner is an opportunity for community leaders and member to donate goods, serve as volunteers, or contribute in their own unique way. There will be live music, singing, and food will be prepared in a dine-in or take-out form.
The dinner will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at Christian Services 301 East 2nd Street in Downtown in Hattiesburg, MS.
According to Vanessa Henson, Community Relations Director of Christian Services, Inc, “Due to a lack of funds or distant family members, the holidays can prove to be a time of gloom and even regret. The Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner offers something different. It is a ray of hope and encouragement for not only those in attendance but those who get to serve and support the cause.”
