PETAL, Miss (WHLT) – An urgent call for help from a Petal family. They need the public’s help in finding a father and husband.
Carita Vidrine says her last conversation with her husband was Saturday, October 8, right before she left home, We said I love you to each other, and I left. He was supposed to spend the day cleaning the camper.”
When she made it back around noon her husband, James, was gone, leaving his cell phone behind; which isn’t unusual. The strange part is, he missed work the next day.
“He goes to work sick. He doesn’t miss work, at all, ever, never. He’s not a perfect husband but a very loving person,” added Vidrine.
Family members said Vidrine was last seen near Goodluck Road and Burger Road in Petal.
His wife tells us he might’ve traveled to Biloxi in his 1984 Buick Electra, “Thinking he maybe took his old car to “Cruising the Coast,” not too worried. He does not show up Sunday night, very worried.”
Authorities with the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office said they don’t believe foul play is a factor. Carita and James share almost 30 years of marriage and a son, Blaine, ” It’s not in his nature to leave his family…me, anybody.”
Vidrine’s wife describes his personality as quiet and shy, but his presence will light up a room, “When he laughs, everybody laughs because he just has a unique laugh that nobody will ever forget if you ever hear it.”
They only want that same light back in their life, “Just need others to support us, get the word out. And call 911 if you have any idea where he is, where he has been or seen his car.”
James Slay Vidrine is 51 years old, black hair brown eyes, 160 lbs. Authorities said he might be traveling in a 1984 Buick Electra.
