HAZMAT teams respond to chemical spill in Laurel

LAUREL, Miss. (WHLT) – Emergency crews were on the scene of a chemical spill at Industrial Park in Laurel.

Caleb Worrell, the Public Information Officer for the

Jones County Fire Council says the area was deemed hazardous late Friday, October 14, 2016.

Multiple HAZMAT teams responded to the scene.

The Hattiesburg HAZMAT used sodium bicarbonate to neutralize and contain the unnamed chemical.

A Jackson HAZMAT team arrived later to clean up the spill after the area has been neutralized.

This is a developing story.
