Burn Bans in effect in Mississippi as of October 11, 2016

HATTIESBURG, Mississippi (WHLT) – The number and severity of grass fires that have ignited throughout the state of Mississippi has increased, and so has the number of burn bans in effect.

According to the Mississippi Forestry Commission, the following counties are now under a burn ban (note that this list has been updated since the latest update marked on this post):

  • Benton
  • Calhoun
  • Carroll
  • Chickasaw
  • Choctaw
  • Clay
  • Coahoma
  • Copiah
  • Grenada
  • Hinds
  • Holmes
  • Humphreys
  • Itawamba
  • Jefferson Davis
  • Kemper
  • Lafayette
  • Lauderdale
  • Lee
  • Lowndes
  • Madison
  • Marshall
  • Monroe
  • Montgomery
  • Neshoba
  • Noxubee
  • Oktibbeha
  • Panola
  • Pontotoc
  • Prentiss
  • Rankin
  • Scott
  • Simpson
  • Smith
  • Sunflower
  • Tallahatchee
  • Tate
  • Tippah
  • Tishomingo
  • Union
  • Warren
  • Washington
