Local Life USA Player of the Week: John Rhys Plumlee – Oak Grove

The play of the year and the Local Life USA Player of the Week collide with John Rhys Plumlee and his mad hops.

In just his second ever start under center as quarterback of the Warriors, John Rhys Plumlee struggled in the passing game. But the sophomore sensation excelled on the ground, where he racked up 112 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries in the first half alone. After getting banged up at the end of the second quarter he sat out the rest of the game as a precautionary measure, but he left his mark on the Battle of the Burg prior to his departure. The dual-threat speedster completely leaped over a defender on his way to a long touchdown run, in what was perhaps the play of the year in high school football from around the Pine Belt.
