Forrest County Deputy and wife in court for tax evasion and fraud charges

FORREST COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A trial is underway for a sheriff’s deputy and his wife who are accused of hiding income from their businesses.

Forrest County Chief Deputy Charles Bolton and his wife, Linda Bolton are facing federal tax fraud and evasion charges for hiding income from their restaurant and liquor store.

The witnesses who testified during the trial say they wrote checks to the Bolton’s restaurant, Sports 22 and they were all labeled as loans.

A possible key witness has pleaded the fifth.
