Almost Storybook Ending for Hattiesburg Baseball

The Tigers fell short in their first trip back to the state championship series since 2006, but they did Hattiesburg baseball tradition proud in the process.

PEARL, Miss. (WHLT) — On Thursday the Hattiesburg baseball team saw its season come to an end in the sixth-inning of Game 2 against Oxford in the MHSAA 5A state championship series. The Tigers were run-ruled 10-0 when the Chargers’ Thomas Dillard smacked his second solo shot of the game, his 16th home run of the year. Not the conclusion the South State champions had in mind, but one that still has Hattiesburg baseball back on the map.

Game 1: Oxford 5, Hattiesburg 3

Game 2: Oxford 10, Hattiesburg 0 (6 innings)
