HATTIESBURG,Miss. (WJTV) — A Hattiesburg bail bondsman is arrested for writing thousands of dollars worth of fraudulent bonds.
According to Attorney General Jim Hood, 56-year-old Allen Humphrey is charged with the crime.
He is accused of writing about $875,000 in fraudulent bonds as a bail bond agent for Mississippi Bonding Company.
Authorities said Humphrey turn himself in Thursday after he was indicted in Lamar County on two counts of felony embezzlement. Investigators from the AG’s office determined that Humphrey allegedly embezzled money while issuing bonds for the company.
His bond is set $45,000
If convicted of both counts, Humphrey faces a total of 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
