LAUREL, Miss. (WJTV) – The Jones County Emergency Management Agency urges drivers to take caution during the severe weather event the area is experiencing.
Below is a statement from JCEMA.
Some city and county roads continue to have water on them. Some of the roads also have damage as a result of the heavy rains. We are asking the public to continue to drive very carefully on these roads because of the damage.
We are checking readings on Tallahala Creek continuously.
The creek is forecast to crest Sunday afternoon at a level of 20 feet. This compares to the March 2011 flooding we experienced.
What precautions you took then, do now also.
If you experience flooding or damage to your property, call 911 and report the damage.
Do NOT drive around barricades. They are placed there for you not to travel on that road.
