Jackson police officer shot responding to robbery call

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) —  Jackson Police are investigating a shooting where an officer was injured.

Around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, police say they were called to an armed robbery at the Edgewood Terrace Apartments on Edgewood Terrace Drive.

Police said when they arrived, they found a broken window. Then the suspect began shooting from the window and that is when police fired back.

One bullet grazed the officer in the side, but he is expected to be ok.

We’re told the suspect was able to escape through an open window and ran into a creek outside of the apartments.

Hinds County deputies and Mississippi Highway Patrol are assisting in the search.
