HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) — Gov. Phil Bryant is declaring a State of Emergency ahead of the severe weather for all areas that may be affected.
“All our citizens need to be prepared for this severe weather event,” Gov. Bryant said. “Everyone should know how to receive weather alerts and have an action plan to take shelter if severe weather strikes.”
The State of Emergency is an administrative tool that allows local governments to request assistance from the state for storm recovery.
A strong storm capable of producing flash flooding, hail and tornadoes is expected to move through parts of the state.
