Man charged in Clarksdale Police officer shooting

CLARKSDALE, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and The Clarksdale Police Department has brought charges against one man related to the shooting of a Clarksdale Police officer.

Johnny Robinson Jr., 19, is charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.

Cpl. Derrick Couch was shot Saturday, February 13 after questioning a possible suspect in connection with an armed robbery at The Corner Grocery.

The first armed robbery charge occurred in October 2015

The Clarksdale Police Department is still looking for the second suspect in connection with the armed robbery.

Authorities believe Robinson was the only suspect involved in the shooting of Cpl. Couch.

His bond is set at $700,000.00 for all charges.
