MCHS host duffel bag drive

HATTIESBURG, Miss – One organization is kicking off a year-long initiative to provide duffel bags to children in the foster care system across the state.

Mississippi Children’s Home Services’ is asking area community centers like the United Way as well as churches and schools to participate.

Their goal is to help each child heal in foster care–shelters or residential care. 

Any bag or gently used luggage collected in your office, will benefit children in your community.

Annie Jackson with Mississippi Children’s Home Services in Hattiesburg says

too often children enter the facility with everything they own in a single trash bag.

No child should have to carry everything they own in trash bag. It may seem like something simple thing but we believe that it will provide dignity for our children and we want to do that.”

They have already designated some community offices and schools as a drop off locations which are listed below:
