Students charged in bomb threat at Warren Central Jr. High

VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – Two Warren Central Jr. High students have been charged in connection to an explosive device found on school property.

Around noon on Wednesday, December 9, authorities responded to a bomb threat.

The school was evacuated and a device was found in a backpack.

The device was removed from the school by a robot and detonated.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators executed a search warrant at 5:30 p.m. at one of the student’s home. They removed materials believed to be used in the construction of the explosive device from the residence.

One student was charged with possession of an explosive device and a weapon (knives) on school property.

The other student taken into custody was charged with a weapon (knife) on school property.

Investigators have not linked the second student as being involved in the making or transporting the explosive device to Warren Central Jr. High.

Both students were placed in the Warren County Detention Center pending a youth court hearing.
