MARION COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Several counties across the Pine Belt have been placed on a burn bans by their local Board of Supervisors and the Mississippi Forestry Commission.
Marion, Covington and Jefferson Davis Counties are prohibited from burning.
Certified burn managers are exempted from Jefferson Davis’ ban. That ban will be lifted in October 19th at midnight.
Bans for Covington and Marion Counties are expected to be lifted October 31st at midnight.
Violators of these burn bans could face misdemeanor charges and a fine of $100 to $500.
