JONES COUNTY, Miss – On Thursday, September 24, 2015, the Jones County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Magnolia Road in response to a stabbing complaint.
The victim reported she and her estranged husband, Frank White Merrill, 33, of Laurel; were having a dispute over a rental property deposit. Additionally, the couple have been in an ongoing fight concerning the victim wanting a divorce. Merrill threatened to kill his wife and left the residence. After Merrill left, the victim went to the JCSD to file a domestic disturbance report.
Later that same day, Merrill returned to the shared residence, stabbing the victim in the shoulder as she attempted to fight back.
Sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel were contacted and Merrill fled the scene. However, Merrill returned later that evening,puncturing all four tires and shattering the windshield of the victim’s vehicle.
On Friday, September 25, 2015, deputies received information that Merrill was located at Lee Street in Laurel. Upon arrival, the JCSD and Laurel Police Department was informed by the homeowner that Merrill ran towards the back door. Merrill was found hiding inside an interior closet.
He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.
Merrill is charged with domestic violence-aggravated assault. His bond was set at $7,500.
