LAMAR COUNTY – In Lamar County, people are standing up for one teacher’s decision to put up a prayer request board in her classroom.
Several church goers stood in front of Oak Grove Middle School in support of an 8th grade teacher who put a prayer board up for display.
This comes after The American Humanist Association sent a letter to Oak Grove Middle School and the district on behalf of a parent is agreeing with the teacher’s decision.
“We should have the right. That’s what this country was founded on, Christian beliefs and we should have the right to pray if we want to and offer it. if they don’t want to participate then that’s their choice. But they don’t need to be able to take away my choice from me,” says Mike Woodard.
