According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, police confiscated over 50 pounds of what they call “mid to higher grade” marijuana on August 24, 2015.

Forty-three-year-old Hugo Garcia was arrested during a search during a traffic stop. Garcia is from Houston, Texas. He is scheduled to make his initial appearance on August 25, 2015 at 3pm. Police are not releasing the location of the bust due to a continuing investigation.

The JCSD has determined the street value of the marijuana to be $90,000-180,000.

“As of today, in Jones County, Mississippi, marijuana is illegal. We have successfully removed a large supply of that illegal drug before it reaches the innocent hands of our children, or our neighbors. It’s a daily fight, but we are committed to that fight and to uphold our laws,” said Sheriff Alex Hodge.
