6 more indicted in Hattiesburg Zoo flamingo deaths

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Six more suspects have been indictments for allegedly participating  in an incident that led to the deaths of two Hattiesburg Zoo flamingos in October 2014.

According to police, Tyler Branch, Richard Coletta, Adonis Harris, Cole Mitchell, Alec Newton, and Bobby Scott have been arrested and were indicted by a Forrest County Circuit Court grand jury. Officials said the flamingos died as the result of an alleged fraternity scavenger hunt that went wrong.

The suspects are charged with grand larceny and conspiracy. Police also say they were booked in the Forrest County Jail and they all entered not guilty pleas.

A seventh suspect was indicted earlier on the same two charges.

The suspects were University of Southern Mississippi students and either members or pledges to the Delta Mu chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

University officials suspended the fraternity chapter after the October incident.
