HATTIESBURG – MS – Hattiesburg High Senior Jarrius Adams was named the 2015 Student of the Year by the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA).
The honor was presented to Adams at the NSDA National Championships in June.
According to Hattiesburg Public Schools, Hattiesburg High is the only school in the country to have two students named Student of the Year. Former student Cory Williams was first given the title in 2010.
Over 3,500 students from schools across the nation compete.
Hattiesburg High School was also the only Mississippi school to receive the NSDA School of Excellence award.
The award is presented to the top 20 schools competing at the national championships.
