HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Hattiesburg is mourning the death of one of it’s long time residents and workers.

Christine “Chris” Linda Roberts Brown passed away May 26th at her Hattiesburg home.

She served the city for 20 years in multiple ways.

Brown was a Division Manager of the Hattiesburg-Petal-Forrest-Lamar Metropolitan Planning Organization in the Department of Federal and State Programs. She was also a grant writer and administrator in the development of the Hattiesburg Internal Facility (Train Depot) project.

The City of Hattiesburg posted this comment about Brown to their Facebook page:

“Christine Brown worked with the City since September 03, 1991. She was often among the first in line to donate money or time to various charities or organizations such as the United Way. She was also an avid fan of college basketball especially The University of Southern Mississippi men and women teams. Her quick wit and infectious personality will be missed.”

Brown received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and continued graduate studies at William Carey University.

Funeral services were held today for Brown at Mcdowell-Nance Convention Center in Palmers Crossing.

She is survived by her husband Elder Brown Jr. and their 2 children.
