HATTIESBURG, Miss. – In reaction to the death of Ferguson, Missouri teen Mike Brown and events happening in the aftermath, some Hattiesburg citizens held a peaceful protest in support of a national movement.
About a dozen protestors in stood outside the Hattiesburg Police Department for hours to bring attention to police brutality.
According to Hattiesburg organizer Lauren Quesinberry, the movement called Operation Ferguson has spread via social networks by a group called Anonymous Press.
“We just want to let our officers know how we feel about racial targeting and police brutality. We want to stand with Mike Brown and his family,” said Quesinberry.
The demonstration remained calm as officers stood across the street.
