JONES CO., Miss. – After a week-long investigation Jones County Investigators have made a major discovery in an international credit card scam.
Officials seized around $40,000 worth of headphones, jump drives, and memory cards from an Ellisville home.
The items were bought with a fraudulent credit card from a woman claiming to be from Gambia, Africa.
She had the items sent to an Ellisville man, who was to later send them to her.
“He had met this lady on a dating website. She had endeared herself to him, and over a period of 6 months she had talked him into receiving packages at his house by UPS and Fed Ex, then changing the labels and forwarding them on to her,” said Major Don Scott.
As of now, the man is not being charged.
Jones County has alerted federal officials about the scam, because other items have already been shipped to the Gambia, Africa address.
