The following is a press release from Miss Hospitality Pageant Coordinator, Emily Riggs.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. –
HATTIESBURG, Miss. –After a full week of rehearsals, special events, and interviews, the 35 Miss Hospitality contestants competed on-stage last night during the Preliminary Competition.
All contestants participated in the Little Black Dress/Commercial Competition and the Evening Gown Competition. At the conclusion of the evening, preliminary award winners were announced.
On Friday morning, each contestant presented a 90-second speech to the panel of judges on how they would sell Mississippi to a visitor. The top three speech awards were given to: Caroline Little, of Laurel; Bonnie Blue Dulaney of Meridian; and Abby Posey of Neshoba County. Each of these contestants will receive a $250 scholarship from HMP Nursing Services Inc.
Caroline is a sophomore at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she is studying speech pathology. At Southern Miss, she is a Leadership Scholar, member of Delta Gamma Sorority and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. She enjoys reading, teaching others and spending time with her family and friends.
Bonnie Blue is a senior Biochemistry Major at Mississippi State University. She is a Roadrunner Student Recruiter, serves as an ambassador for the college of Agriculture and Life Sciences and is a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She conducts research for the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts, and plans to attend medical school.
Abby is studying Elementary Education at the University of Mississippi. She is a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, where she served as Rush Chairman and currently serves as Vice-President. Abby is a member of the Honors College and plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, upon graduating from Ole Miss in May 2015.
Kelsey Proctor of Wayne County was also recognized as the Top Ad Sales Winner. She will receive a $250 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble at Southern Miss.
The Miss Hospitality Pageant will continue tonight with the final on-stage competition and the crowning of the 2014 Mississippi Miss Hospitality.
