PRENTISS, Miss. – Three people were mildly injured after their single-engine plane crashed Saturday afternoon in a field off Thurman Rd.

Jefferson County Deputies say 75-year-old Sammie Hooks of Covington County was piloting the single-engine plane when it hit a line of trees, broke a wing, and crashed. He also owns the plane.

Kristy Wade, 38, and a 5-year-old boy were also aboard the plane.

Friends of the family says they were taken to Covington County Hospital and shortly released. Wade received cuts to the face and a broken chin. Hooks has a minor concussion and the little boy received a cut at the back of the head.

Investigation has begun on the cause of the crash.
