ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats have moved into this week's NJCAA football rankings.
The 2-0 Bobcats are rated No. 19 in the poll, which was released Tuesday morning.
JCJC has posted victories over Holmes (54-14) and Northeast Mississippi (34-28) in its first two games.
Head coach Ray Perkins' Bobcats will begin MACJC South Division play at home at 7 p.m. on Saturday against Pearl River Community College, 1-1. The game will be videocast at www.jcjc.tv with Mark Easley and Ed Smith on the call. Airtime is 6:45 p.m.
Mississippi Gulf Coast continues to be ranked No. 1, followed by Navarro College (Texas), Iowa Western Community College, Butler Community College (Kan.) and East Mississippi Community College.
Other MACJC schools in this week's poll are Copiah-Lincoln at No. 6, Hinds at No. 8 and Itawamba at No. 12.
The Bobcats are rated No. 23 in this week's JCgridiron.com “Dirty 30” poll, two spots up from last week's poll. The “Dirty 30” poll consists of the NJCAA schools and the California schools.
Mississippi Gulf Coast is rated No. 1, followed by Riverside Community College (Calif.), East Mississippi, Iowa Western and Butte Community College (Calif.).
Other MACJC schools in the poll are Itawamba at No. 12 and Co-Lin at No. 29.
