Hattiesburg, MS. – #14 William Carey University woman's soccer fell just short in their home opener to #1 Lindsey Wilson 2-1.

Lindsey Wilson started the attack early; however, Linfah Jones came up with two huge saves in the 10th and 20th minutes. Lindsey Wilson finally netted a goal off of Natasha Gensetter's shot in the 40th minute. The Lady Crusaders quickly countered when Claudia Saucedo booted in a goal after a beautiful setup from Kristen Satcher and Bridget Dennis.  The score remained tied until the 66th minute when Jamie Stanton put Lindsey Wilson up for good.

Lindsey Wilson held a 17 to 6 advantage in shots. Linfah Jones had another solid night in the goal recording six saves.

William Carey woman's soccer returns to action on September 13th in Orange Beach, AL. where they will take on #4 Vangaurd University. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.



Hattiesburg, MS.- William Carey University ended Saturday night at Crusader Field in a 0-0 tie against the University of St. Thomas in what was a strong display of defense from both teams.

William Carey and St. Thomas were locked in a defensive gridlock in the first half, where each team only managed to take three shots. Neither team capitalized on any of their shots leaving the game scoreless at the half. Both teams struggled to find any rhythm for the first thirty-five minutes of the second half. However, with ten minutes to go in the game the Crusaders stepped up their attack, but St. Thomas goalkeeper, Jason Taffet, came up with some big saves to push the game into overtime. The Crusaders continued their offensive play into the first period of overtime but could still not get the ball past the St. Thomas goalkeeper. The final overtime was more of the same. The Crusaders fired numerous shots and still came up empty handed.

William Carey held a 21 to 9 advantage in shots. Helge Pietschmann led the way for the Crusaders with seven of those twenty-one shots coming from him

William Carey University men's soccer returns to action on September 7th in Orange Beach, AL where they will take on Vanguard University. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
